Cookie Policy

The cookies IPA Translator uses, why, and how to control them

2026/08/05

Effective date: August 5, 2026

1. What This Policy Covers

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies IPA Translator sets on your device, what each one does, and how long it lasts. The short version: we use strictly necessary cookies and, depending on your region and choice, first-party analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing, Google Signals, or cross-site advertising identifiers.

2. Cookies We Set

CookiePurposeTypeLifetime
better-auth.session_tokenKeeps you signed inStrictly necessary7 days
better-auth.session_dataCaches session lookup to keep pages fastStrictly necessary1 hour
NEXT_LOCALERemembers the locale used for routingStrictly necessarySession
ipa_visitor_idGives anonymous guests a one-time free credit allowance; signed and HttpOnly so it cannot be forged or read by scriptsStrictly necessary90 days
ipa_newsletter_optinCarries your newsletter checkbox choice through the Google sign-in redirect, then is no longer neededStrictly necessary1 hour
ipat-geoStores the regional consent policy used to decide whether an analytics choice is requiredConsent control24 hours

The authentication, visitor, locale, and newsletter cookies are used to provide the corresponding Service features. The ipat-geo cookie only stores the short-lived regional policy decision; it is not an analytics identifier.

3. Analytics and local storage

Our Umami analytics tool is cookieless: it does not set cookies, does not use fingerprints, and does not track you across websites. It provides only aggregate statistics.

Our Google Analytics 4 (GA4) implementation may set the first-party cookies _ga and _ga_<measurement-id> after Google Analytics is allowed. These cookies help GA4 distinguish analytics sessions and measure page views, referrers, and traffic sources. The exact <measurement-id> portion depends on the GA4 property configured for the Service.

For a consent-required region, GA4 cookies are not set before the visitor accepts Google Analytics through the consent banner or Cookie settings. In other known regions, GA4 may be set by the current regional policy unless the visitor has rejected Google Analytics. The Cookie settings control is available on every route and can be used to withdraw Google Analytics; withdrawal stops future collection in this page and removes GA4 cookies on the current IPA Translator host.

We also store the versioned Google Analytics choice in browser local storage under ipat-consent for up to 180 days. Local storage is not a cookie, and this record is used only to remember the visitor's Google Analytics choice and policy version. If browser storage is blocked, the choice applies to the current page but cannot be remembered across visits.

4. Third-Party Cookies

When you check out, Waffo Pancake may set its own cookies on its domain for fraud prevention and payment security. Google Analytics requests may also be sent to Google after analytics is allowed. Those providers' own policies also apply to their processing.

5. Managing Cookies in Your Browser

You can use the persistent Cookie settings control on any route to allow or reject Google Analytics. Most browsers also let you view, block, or delete cookies in settings. Note that blocking better-auth.session_token will sign you out, and blocking ipa_visitor_id will prevent guest credits from working.

6. Changes to This Policy

We will post updates on this page with a new effective date.
